The IBBA Board of Directors held a conference call meeting on July 5, 2010 to discuss the recommendations from the Show Committee pertaining to the IBBA Rules for Show Eligibility and Inspections of Exhibits.
The IBBA Board has unanimously passed the following change to the rules for exhibiting Brangus cattle.
The IBBA will no longer allow paints or coloring agents of any kind to be used on any animal exhibited at IBBA sponsored shows. The use of aerosol products of any kind are not allowed in the line-up area entering the show ring. Animals will be toweled in the line-up area prior to entering the show ring, animals found to be in violation of these policies will be disqualified from showing.
This new policy will be enforced at the upcoming 2010 National Junior Brangus Show and the 2010 IBBA open Futurity Show.
The IBBA Board of Directors has also unanimously passed the following Show Rules Violation Policy. This policy will be added to our present IBBA Rules for Show Eligibility and Inspections of Exhibits and will be effective immediately.
Show Rules Violation Policy
- A show rules violation to be a valid complaint must be accompanied by a written statement describing the violation, the perpetrator of the violation, and signed by an active member of the IBBA. This written complaint will be presented to an Ethics Committee consisting of the Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Executive Committee Liaison, and an appointed member. All four people will be current members of the show committee. A minimum of two of these members must be present at the Show where the rule violation occurs. The Chairman shall appoint other members of the Show Committee to ensure a minimum of two on this committee at each IBBA approved show.
- The Committee shall rule on the validity of the rule violation. The committee shall visit with the perpetrator, present the written complaint, and make a ruling on the complaint if valid.
- The perpetrator is entitled to appeal any decision made by the Ethics Show Committee to the Executive Committee of the IBBA but the Executive Committee has the right to disqualify the perpetrator from the IBBA approved show after hearing an appeal. The Executive Committee’s decision will be final.
- Without the Executive Committee’s decision, the perpetrator cannot be disqualified from this particular IBBA approved show. However, the animal can be disqualified by the Ethics Committee if the rule violation is deemed valid.
- For and in consideration of the opportunity to participate in any Brangus function, each exhibitor hereby releases the Association, its officers, directors and representatives from negligence, any and all claims, suits, and judgments past, present, or future, arising from or connected with this policy and the resulting decision there from.
